Teacher Chermaine began her contemporary dance training in 1998 under Mdm Low Mei Yoke. She studied dance professionally with a Diploma in Dance & Higher Education from LASALLE SIA College of the Arts in 2007. She trained and performed with Odyssey Dance Theatre’s ‘Young Artist Project Performers’ program and then became an Associate Artiste in Ecnad company.
Her extensive performing experience includes the Chingay Parade of Dreams, NTUC Singapore Birthday Bash, Odyssey Dance Theatre, Lasalle’s Scream and Whisper, Singapore Dans Festival, and with Loretta Livingston amongst other college productions. She was invited to dance in movement theatre piece Poverty at The Substation and with Ecnad for Singapore River Festival 2008 and in 2009, Campfire. She has also performed for events in the commercial sector. In 2010, Chermaine was invited to choreograph and dance solo in collaboration with local award-winning filmmaker Victric Thng’s dance film, ‘A Day Without Wind’ commissioned by NAC for the Singapore Arts Festival 2010 and later screened in The Cathay cinemas.
Having been a dance educator of 11 years, Chermaine has taught a variety of dance genres from preschool to junior college level and also at private dance studios. Her choreography credits include High School Musical Junior, a dance musical for NTUC’s U Picnic 2013, Wizard of Oz, Annie the Musical and for Sports hub Official Opening cum MOE 50th Anniversary. She trained dancers for the National Day Parade 2007, 2008, 2010 and in 2012, Chermaine was appointed as Choreographer for MOE segment, Act 3.
